How to play Fair Split
- Press and draw one line right through the shape, then let go.
- The line can be straight or curved. Wherever it cuts, the shape falls into two pieces and each one shows its share.
- Each cut must land close enough to 50 / 50: within 6 points on the first shape, down to within 3.5 on the last.
- A cut that misses or stops partway is ignored, so try again. Cutting the shape into three pieces ends the run.
- Six shapes: a cookie, a pear, an L-shaped block, a bean, a ring with an off-centre hole and a starfish. 50 seconds.
Tips
- A short cut across the narrow part of a shape is easier to place than a long one.
- On a lopsided shape, the halfway line sits closer to the fat end than it looks.
- The hole in the ring counts as nothing, so the side with the hole needs more ring.
- The shapes are the same every attempt, so each try teaches you where the line goes.
